Recommended setup

Candidate keys
  • Customer/contact ID
  • Email address
  • Phone only when formatted consistently
Merge mode

Master + Enrich keeps every CRM contact and adds purchase fields where a matching customer exists.

Other modes

Use Matches Only for purchasers only, or Keep Everything if purchases may contain customers missing from the CRM.

How to join the data

  1. Add the CRM export and purchase file and choose the relevant sheets.
  2. Choose Master + Enrich and map the stable customer/contact identifier between the two files.
  3. Use additional match fields only if every selected field should agree for the same person.
  4. Review match reach, duplicates and output columns before downloading.
One CRM contact can have many purchases. Multiple result rows for a single contact can be correct when purchase-level data is being joined.

Common problems

One-to-many joins

A single contact can match several transactions and expand into multiple output rows.

Shared emails

Family or team addresses can connect more than one person or account.

Phone formatting

Punctuation and country codes may need cleaning before phone is suitable as a key.
