Private by design: your PDFs never leave your device

Most online PDF tools upload your documents to their servers. MergeStudio doesn’t. The merge runs in your browser using the open-source pdf-lib library, and page previews are drawn with Mozilla’s PDF.js. That makes it a good fit for contracts, invoices, medical forms and other documents you’d rather not hand to a third party.

You can check this yourself: open your browser’s developer tools, switch to the Network tab and merge a file. You’ll see no request carrying your PDF. See the privacy page for exactly what the site does and doesn’t collect.

No upload, no account

Nothing to sign up for and nothing stored on a server.

No watermark or limits

Merge as many files, as often as you like, for free.

Original quality

Pages are copied as-is. Text stays sharp and selectable.

Merge PDF FAQ

Are my PDF files uploaded?

No. MergeStudio reads and merges your PDFs with JavaScript running in your browser tab. File contents, file names and passwords are not sent to MergeStudio or anyone else. Anonymous page-view analytics never include file details.

Is there a file size or page limit?

There is no fixed limit. Because merging happens in your device's memory, the practical limit depends on your browser and device. Documents with hundreds of pages are usually fine on a computer; very large jobs (hundreds of megabytes) may be slow or fail on phones. Each processing request stops after two minutes. Use Cancel and clear files to stop sooner, then add your files again.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

Yes, if you know the password. Enter it on the file card and it is used only on your device to open the file. The merged PDF is saved without a password.

Will the merged PDF lose quality?

No. Pages are copied as they are, without re-compressing images or turning text into pictures, so text stays selectable. Downloaded PDFs lose password protection and bookmarks. Form behavior can change, and filled values may remain visible or editable. Keep your originals and check downloaded files before sharing or relying on them.

Is it really free? Is there a watermark?

Yes, it is free with no signup, no watermark and no daily limit. MergeStudio doesn't pay for server processing because your own browser does the work.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It works in current mobile browsers such as Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android. Use the arrow buttons to reorder files and pages on a touch screen.
